- In the streets of Venice Iago tells Rodrigo about being passed over for a promotion by Othello, who gave it to another soldier, Cassio, instead. Iago plots revenge!
- I would not follow him then!
- Brabantio accuses Othello of using witchcraft to seduce Desdemona. They go to the duke to settle the matter.
- I follow him to serve my term upon him.
- Desdemona arrives and confirms that she married Othello because she loves him. Brabantio issues a warning.
- They tell Brabantio that his daughter, Desdemona, has run off with Othello to get married. Brabantio gets a group together to go after him.
- It seems not wholesome that I should appear against the Moor.
- He parlayed against your honour!
- The Duke orders Othello to lead the Venetian navy to defend Cyprus from the attacking Turkish fleet.
- Iago tells Othello of Brabantio’s anger. Othello is confident nothing bad will happen.
- Let him do his sprite.
- To fall in love with what she feared to look on!
- Look to her, moor. She has deceived her father and may thee!
- The affair cries haste!
