The Story of Zeus

- Zeus was the Father of Gods and Men. He lived on Mount Olympus and had thick masses of hair, a flowing beard, and a wreath of oak leaves around his head. He was also seen with an eagle and a staff.
- Zeus was the son of two Titans: Cronus and Rhea. Cronus was afraid that one of his children would overthrow him so he swallowed all of them.
- When Zeus was born, Rhea hid him in a cave in Crete so Cronus wouldn't find him. He stayed there until he was much older.
- When Zeus grew up, he and his two brothers Hades and Poseidon took over the world. Zeus took over heaven and air, Hades was in the infernal region, and Poseidon the sea.
- Zeus married Hera and they had two sons: Ares and Hephaestus. Zeus sometimes took the form of a human or animal and had many other children with other women.
- Zeus was the most powerful of the Gods. He was a protector and avenger of men. He was also a counselor and mighty friend.
