- The tone of the lottery is calm. In the beginning it talks about a nice "sunny day" and later towards the end of the story even though there is all this crazy stuff going on the tone narrators tone doesnt really change.
- foreshadow
- The theme of the text is question your traditions. in my opinion the theme of the lottery is this due to how Ms. Hutchinson says "it isn't fair, it isn't right." This shows that she doesn't believe something is right with the tradition.
- pg 25-26 have long descriptions which causes that slower pace, but as the story progresses the descriptions and sentences begin to get shorter which gives it a faster pace, "all right fellows" for a minute none moved then all the slips of paper were open. This shows how that pace begins to speed up compared to earlier in the story
- Your left on a cliffhanger. The final sentence of the story says "this isn't fair, this isn't right." "and then they were upon her". this foreshadows that she was beat with stones to death.
