- In a dystopian world where books are banned and it is a fireman's job to burn them a struggle begins.
- After meeting a young lady who opens his eyes Montag, a figherfighter questions his profession.
- At home is hiding a stash of books and begins to try and understand literature.
- Unable to read them, he seeks a professor he knows for help. This man explains to him the beauty of books and how to interpreter deeper meanings.
- Soon after he realizes the faults of his society which has given up on independent thinking, interaction with others, and on the natural world.
