- What are the Three Levels of Government The Three Levels of Government create a system used in Australia to equally balance power. It is referred to in three branches which are the federal, state and local. The federal government is in the Parliament in Canberra. The state government is in each state and territory's capital city. The local government is spread across Australia in multiple areas mainly at the border of Australia. The three levels of government work together to provide services and make decisions that affect the Australian population.
- What is the Separation of Powers?The Separation of Powers is related to the Three levels of government because each level of government has its own legislative,executive, and judicial branches. The legislative branch is in charge of establishing laws and is comprised of the Parliament, which has two houses: the Senate and the House of Representatives. The executive branch, led by the Prime Minister and Cabinet, is in charge of enforcing and executing the laws. The judicial branch, which consists of the federal court system, including the High Court of Australia, is in charge of interpreting and applying the laws. The Separation of Powers guarantees that no one branch has complete authority and that checks and balances are in place to avoid abuses of power.
