Storyboard Tekst

  • Exposition
  • The disease has sharpened my senses, I hear heaven, the earth, and in hell.
  • Rising Action One
  • My head is sufficient enough for me to slip it in the door!
  • Rising Action 2
  • Who's there?!
  • My dissimulation is no match for this old man. His eye will torture me no longer. I am so profound!
  • The story opens with the antagonist, who is the narrator, telling the listener that he can prove his sanity by telling us how calmly he can tell us how he murdered the old man. The narrator is unreliable because he claims that he has a disease that allows him to hear things in heaven, the earth, and in hell but then contradicts himself by saying he can healthily tell us the story. He tells us that his motivator for murder is simply the old man's vulture eye.
  • Climax
  • His heart will vex me no more.
  • The narrator then tells us his plan. He watches the old man in his sleep for seven nights, and each night he opens the door slightly and then peaks his head in ever so slowly, and opens the lantern very slowly, until a thin ray of light shins from it. But each time, the eye is closed, which doesn't give the narrator the courage to kill the old man.
  • Falling Action
  • *Knock Knock*
  • But on the eighth night, the narrator makes a point that "he had felt the extent of his own powers- of his sagacity." because of this, his pride gets the best of him, causing him to chuckle. This wakes up the old man, and causes an hour stand off between that narrator and the old man. Then, the narrator hears his heart beat, which he thinks is the old man's heart, which enrages him even more.
  • Resolution
  • The narrator couldn't take it anymore, so he jumps out and kills the old man. Then he slices up the body in the bath tub, and hides the body parts under the floor.
  • The police arrive to the old man's house, because a neighbor heard a shriek (the shriek came from the narrator when killing the old man) and the narrator invites the police inside the house, sitting them down in the old man's bed chamber.
  • The narrator hears his heart beat, but he again thinks it's the old man's heart, causing the narrator to get nervous. Once the police start laughing while chatting, the narrator thinks they're mocking him, that they knew he killed the old man, leading him to confess.
