- Let's talk careers today! Over 21 million people have jobs in agriculture and American agriculture is the world's largest industry, with assets of over 1 trillion dollars!

- Think of your house... what things can you think of that might be at least a part of agriculture ?
- Fabric, curtains too.
- Lumber, a forestry product
- Even some plastics are partly made of agriculture products.
- Veterinarians, dog trainers, groomers and breeders are all part of agriculture.
- That means lots of jobs are out there for you!
- 400,000 people or so are needed every year to fill all the positions open. Only 100,000 are filled by people actually trained in agriculture.
- What's an apprentice?
- Someone who agrees to work with a skilled employer for a time to get experience and learn a craft.
- So you can get a 4 or 2 year degree, or be an apprentice.
- Only 20 percent of agriculture careers need college degrees.
- Any job that makes products or offers services that involve plants, animals and other renewable natural resources (resources that can be replaced by natural processes as quickly as humans use them) is considered an agriculture job.
- You can have a job that involves a lot of travel, even internationally. Or you can stay close to home.
- The only limit really is your imagination.
- You can work outside, or inside. In a big agri-business or a small retail store
