The process of photosynthesis is where plants use sunlight to make their own food. This is an important part in the plants life's this food is what allows the plant to grow and develop
The Process of Photosynthesis
The first part of this process is when the sun shines on a plant. The photons from this light energy hit the chloroplasts of the plant cell
Sun
There is a chemical inside these chloroplasts called chlorophyll. The chlorophyll absorbs the photons of this light energy
Oxygen escapes the plant through the air
Hydrogen
Water is absorbed through the roots
The plant gets water by absorbing it through its roots underground. These water molecules are transferred into the plants leaves, and are also split by the photons that were gained from the light energy of the sun. Oxygen gets released from the plant through air, while hydrogen stays in the chloroplasts of the plant
Carbon Dioxide
Hydrogen
Carbon dioxide enters the plant through small openings on the surface of the leaves
The carbon dioxide then combines with the hydrogen that stayed in the plant, and once they combine, they create Glucose. Glucose is the food that the plant eats. Also as a result of this, more oxygen is released through the air
More oxygen that escapes through the air
Glucose
In short, photosynthesis is:Sunlight + CO2 + H2O ----- CHO + O2
