- Act 1 Scene 1
- Benedick, could you tell me what you think of Leonato's daughter?
- It's just that, I couldn't force myself to reject if Hero wants to marry me.
- Act 1 Scene 1

- Act 1 Scene 2
- Well, a servant of mine overheard that the Prince is in love with Hero, and he's ready to tell that to her at the dance.

- I hope that servant is a smart man.
- Benedick is having a tete-a-tete with Claudio. Claudio expresses affinity towards Hero and tries to woo her, causing Benedick to remark that Claudio doesn't have an eye for ladies, but decides to help him anyway.
- Act 1 Scene 3
- Oh, Claudio, how I hate to hear the name of the person who cause such misery to me.
- What's the new, Borachio?
- I can give you information about an intended marriage between Claudio and Hero, Leonato's daughter.
- Upon seeing that Claudio is being very honest and serious about his feelings towards Hero, Don Pedro offers to help him by attending the ball while dressing up as Claudio and win over Hero's heart for him.
- Act 1 Scene 3
- You know what? This new may just cheer me up.
- Come, let us make our way to this great feast and cause some troubles for this young boy.
- Lead the way, sir
- Till the day we die, my lord.
- Their conversation is overheard by one of Antonio's servants, who decides to tell Antonio about it without aware of it being misinformation, and Antonio decides to pass that news onto Leonato.
- Be prepared to be asked for her hand after the dance tonight.
- In any way, my daughter needs to be informed about this so that she could get an answer prepared beforehand.
- Meanwhile, Borachio, while working as a perfumer for the castle, also overheard the conversation. He tells Don John and Conrad about these very important findings.
- And how did you hear this wonderful new?
- I was hired as a perfumer for Leonato's house. I eavesdropped on their conversation while hid between one of the tapestry in the room I was working on.
- Don John, upon hearing the news, expresses delight and his wish to ruin Claudio's plan out of resentment for him. Borachio and Conrad both swear their loyalty to him, and they all make their way to the party.
