- King Hrothgar woke one night from a nightmare of battle-sweat and loss. He found that Grendel had slaughtered his men while they slept. This left Heorot Hall polished with blood.
- Grendel
- Just like that, Beowulf was on his way to defeat Grendel. He left his sword behind in a mound of dirt, which left everyone watching very concerned. He was determined to defeat the monster.
- I am Beowulf, and I have come to defeat Grendel!
- Beowulf
- Grendel came to fight. Beowulf used all strength and ripped Grendel's arm off causing him to bleed to death. This left Grendel sleep of the sword.
- Beowulf and his men came across a bottomless pit of blood, so Beowulf dove in. When he dove, Grendel's mother snatched him in her tentacles and brought him to her lair. Only Beowulf would risk his life in that lake.
- Beowulf was snatched by Grendel's mother, and she bring him to her lair. Beowulf kills Grendel's mother by using the sword that he retrieved. He takes Grendel's head as a souvenir.
- Grendel's Mother
- Beowulf wanted to battle one last time. He brought his men and Wiglaf, but no weapons. He only brought his bees. Beowulf died leaving only Wiglaf knowing how he planned for the bees to kill the firedrake.
