- Nohbdy will not get out alive, I swear. Oh, had you brain and voice to tell where he may be now, dodging all my fury!
- After plotting to find a way to escape, Odysseus gifted the Cyclops wine. Cyclops drinks plenty of wine and has fallen asleep when they ram the spike deep in his crater eye, and turning it as a shipwright turns a drill.
- Cyclops, Odysseus, raider of cities, took your eye:Laertes’ son, whose home’s on Ithaca!’
- After being stabbed in the eye, Polyphemus comes roaring out of the cave in rage.
- Father, I want a curse put on Odysseus, raiders of cities.
- The next morning after Odysseus stabbed the Cyclops/Polyphemus, he tied himself and his crewmen to the sheep. When the Cyclops left the sheep out to graze, they left the cave and untied themselves after they escaped. Since the Cyclops was blind, he was unable to notice what had happened.
- As they escape from the island of the Cyclopes, Odysseus's pride causes him to reveal his true identity.
- With the help of his father, Poseidon, the Cyclops places a curse on Odysseus. The curse is that he never reach his home or several years in the future, alone to bitter days.
