- Iris lived in a poor village in Greece. Everyday she would walk around looking at the flowers and soil that the shops showed out the window. She dreamt of having the flowers and soil making the most beautiful garden.
- Climax
- You can not come and see!
- Two goddesses Demeter and Flora came to Iris and gave her these two things. The most fertile soil on earth and seeds that grant her any color she wants. Demeter said calmly "Use these gifts well and share all of this with the village." Iris nodded and excitingly accepted the gift.
- Falling action
- Iris began to plant each seed and whisper a color to the flower. Iris decided to make a rainbow field full of flowers. Planting came easy to Iris as she worked the soil in her garden using the gifts the gods had given her.
- Resolution
- Many of the townspeople heard about her beautiful flowers and were eager to experience it. Iris became angry and didn't want anyone to trample her flowers. She began to think that she was better than the others. She exclaimed "You cannot come and see these flowers! They are all mine!"
- Demeter and Flora heard Iris' screams from Mt.Olympus and were not happy she wasn't sharing the gift she was given. They both appeared in the garden and gave Iris a choice "Share this gift with others we have granted upon you, or face our wrath!"
- Iris refuses to share her gift with others triggering the wrath of not only Demeter and Flora, but of Zeus himself. The gods make Iris hold a bouquet of every color of flowers she planted. Zeus strikes her with his mighty thunderbolt turning her into a beam of light with every color she choose. The gods exclaim "Treat others as they would treat you!"
