- Wouldst thou not be glad to have the niggardly rascally sheep-biter come by some notable shame?
- “M,O,A,I.” This simulation is not as the former, and yet, to crush this a little, it would bow to me, for every one of these letters are in my name.
- Maria: does it work upon him?Sir Toby: Like acqua-viae with a midwife
- Sir Toby and Sir Andrew enrole Fabian into the trick they are about to lead as he also has a grudge against Malvolio. Maria arrives and tells them to get ready as Malvolio is coming.
- Maria hurrys of leaving behind the letter while the others go hide to assist the scene. Malvolio goes on about how he imagines being in love with Olivia (he is daydreaming). When he is finished. He spots the letter that he recognises as coming from Olivia. It says that she is in love with "M.O.A.I". He finally concludes that it must be for him and is very happy. He says that he will follow the instructions to please Olivia.
- Malvolio leaves, and the four come back together. They are delighted that their scheme worked and they praise Maria for her letter.
