- Baptista's way of telling Bianca's suitors that they can not wed her until Katherine is married. The man, Gremio, states that Katherine is too harsh and "shrewish" for him.
- You can date when your sister dates!
- But she's a mutant!
- I'm going to listen to feminist music and avoid all of the unwashed miscreantes at school!
- Katherine's feminist behavior in the play
- Does not want to date just anyone
- Defying what men expect of her

- The lack of a mother figure could have led to feminist and "shrewish" behavior.
- Don't talk to boys, don't go to parties and don't get pregnant! (My wife left and I need to protect my kids!)
- I don't need a man, I need to care for myself and take it slow.
- In the end Katherine is a changed woman. This is because she was controlled and forced to change. Based on her final speech, the reader is entirely unsure if she is serious or not!

- Walter is the father is Bianca and Kat, the modern version of the shrew.
- Walter's way of telling Bianca that she can not date until Kat does. Kat does not want to date and her father is happy about it. In The Taming of the Shrew, the father wants Katherine to date.
- Kat's modern feminist behavior in the play
- Kat and Bianca's mom left their family, potentially leaving their father with frightened emotions and Kat with angry emotions.
- Kat winds up being happy and less angry as she was in the beginning. She achieves this on her own, not due to force like in the play.
