- Joe Carp and Frank Reilly beat up Charlie after they got him drunk at the club without him knowing. He didn't remember and a police officer brought him home.
- Person Vs Technology
- When Charlie was invited to the party by Joe and Frank he was laughed at by his co-workers, not understanding he thought it was fine and was happy.
- Person Vs Self
- Charlie cannot beat allergon until after his surgery then Algernon bites Charlie after he starts regressing, and ends up dying not too long later and Charlie is upset.
- Person vs Supernatural
- When Charlie started regressing he couldn't type well anymore, having to go back to writing because he couldn't type well or read, making him upset because his handwriting isn't that well.
- Charlie is sad and angry when he begins to regress and tries hard to keep his newfound knowledge while becoming sad and depressed from Algernon passing and his regression.
- When Charlie is chosen thanks to Ms kinnian, he gets to start writing in a journal before having to go in and get the surgery to increase his intelligence.
