Story of Rongokako

- There once lived a man callled Rongokako, he was nice and handsome despite the fact he would take foos and resources from other tribes. Rongokako was know as the giant, tha steals what he gets his hands on.
- Ko Rongokako toku ingoa
- Hinerakau, which is the beautiful daughter of a Pakipaki chief, was to be the focal point of a plan. She would get the leader of the Waimarama tribes, for Rongokako to fall in love with her, turning his thoughts from war to peace.
- The plan succeeded but she too fell in love. The Heretaunga members however, had not forgotten the past and with revenge as the motive, demanded that Hinerakau makes Rongokako prove his devotion by peforming seemingly impossible tasks
- #160;The last task he did was, to bite his way through the hills between the coast so people could come and go with greater ease.
- Rongokako's cause of death was because while he was making the pathway he got a large rock lodged in his throat#160; so that basically means he choked to death. But before He was burried, Hinrakau jumped off a cliff and died because of how much she loved him. So after all hinerakau and Rongokako are burried together on Te Mata peak up in the North of New Zealand.#160;
- Now to this day you can still see the shape of Rongokako's body from a veiw.
