Hey Katie... I have been fighting with my partner a lot these days...
What happened, Sam...?
Katie and Sam met up at a nearby bakery since Sam had some problems about how her parents are not blessing her relationship with her partner.
Dia: 2
My parents are not approving our relationship and I don't know what to do...
I'm so sorry to hear that... but why though?
Katie wondered and asked Sam on why her parents are not giving their blessing towards Sam's relationship with her partner.
Dia: 3
It's because my partner is actually a girl... but I love her a lot, Katie..
What?! I didn't know you were actually dating a girl..
Katie wondered why Sam's parents are not giving her their blessing. Sam then continued to open up on how her partner is actually a girl. With this newfound information, Katie got shocked.
Dia: 4
May I ask, how did you start knowing you have feelings for a girl?
Instead of judging Sam, Katie decided to ask how did she get attracted to a girl who is the same gender as her in the first place. Without any hesitation, Sam talked about her sexual identity and more info on the LGBT community.
Dia: 5
I'm just curious, how does that happen when it's clear we as humans are made as pairs, man and woman?
For me, gender doesn't really matter. What matters is love is love and when you feel it, you know they're the one.
Katie asks Sam on why are there people who are prone to liking the same gender instead of the opposite gender and decided to dig more information about the LGBT community as curiosity hits her.
Dia: 6
Hey Sam, what do you think about this one hot issue about how the LGBT community are asking for special public amenities?
As Katie listened as she learns more about the LGBT community, she then decided to ask Sam about her opinion on the ongoing issue in today's world on how the LGBT community wants to have special amenities in public such as a special toilet for the other genders besides men and women.
Dia: 7
I personally think it's unnecessary to do so because I feel like we are the same as everybody else. It's not like we have a special disability or something.
Sam explains that she feels it would be unnecessary to have a separate toilet for the LGBT community because it would make them feel as if they're not like others and abnormal. This would let their self-esteem down.
Dia: 8
Do you think it's a good idea for people to voice out about the LGBT community everywhere on social media platforms?
Then, Katie asks why do netizens use the social media as a platform to protest on this LGBT issue when it's clear most adolescents have access to the internet. So, she wonders if it's a good thing for these youngsters to see this out of the ordinary relationships.
Dia: 9
Well, as I said we are still humans and we deserve to voice out our own opinions just as everybody else... Also, it's a good thing for the children to know about the community so they can start respecting us as humans.
Sam told Katie that the LGBT community should be portrayed on the media because the social media is a platform for everybody and kids should learn about this community so they could learn to always respect others no matter what their identity is.
Dia: 10
There have been so many cases where the LGBT community kept on getting bullied for being who they are.. No one respects them as humans and I really don't want it to get any further.
Sam continues to explain on how if this community is not talked about by the media, there will be cases where the LGBT community get bullied on being who they are and people will look at them negatively and differently.
Dia: 11
But what if there are more negative things rather than positive things that could possibly affect the thinking of netizens?
Katie then wonders what if this community shows more negative things on the media instead of focusing on voicing out themselves about having the same human rights as everybody else. Sam then tells her that is why we need people to actually talk about this issue so that people don't start bashing on the community until they get angry on the people who bash them for no absolute reason at all.
Dia: 12
Oh hey it's getting late... I'm gonna go now. Hope you figure out what to do about your relationship problem and thanks for the chit-chat!
Bye Katie! See you when I see you.
Katie has now understand more about the LGBT community and starts to see them as normal human beings and always remembers to respect them as humans. She understands there are benefits of portraying LGBT in media but also deep down see how it can also be a negative thing. They ended their conversation as they bid goodbye and part their ways.
