  • I learnt to meditate because my doctor recommended stress inoculation training.
  • Prolonged exposure therapy is when the patient has to do things that remind them of the traumatic event. It consists of 15 90 minute sessions to desensitize a patient. At the start a therapist will teach breathing techniques to help with anxiety. After that the patient makes a list of things they have been avoiding and have to complete all the tasks. This should help to desensitize the sufferer and ease their symptoms.
  • think positively, Focus on what I am doing.
  • A cure for PTSD is group therapy. People who have experienced similar traumatic events can talk about it together. The goal of therapy is to improve symptoms, restore self esteem and teach skills to deal with PTSD. It does this by trying to change your though patterns.
  • Stress inoculation training is teaching the sufferer how to deal with stress in a positive way. This can be done in a group or by them selves. It is meant to teach the sufferer how to properly deal with the stress and after 3 months patients have the skills to deal with stress properly.
  • Eye movement and desensitization and reprocessing is a treatment for PTSD. The sufferer doesn't have to tell anyone about their trauma, they just have to remember it. While they remember it they try to think positive thoughts and focus on what their therapist is doing. This teaches them how to think positively even when remembering their trauma.
