There once was a stunning young woman named Medusa who lived many years ago. With long, flowing hair and soft skin, Medusa was beautiful.
Medusa was aware of her beauty and spent her days wandering the streets of Athens, Greece, telling anyone who would listen about it and gazing incessantly at her reflection.
I'm beautiful!!
On Sunday, Medusa boasted to the miller that her skin was more beautiful than recently fallen snow.
Sunday ;Monday Tuesday
She told the cobbler on Monday that her hair shone brighter than the sun.
She told the son of the blacksmith on Tuesday that her eyes were as green as the Aegean Sea.
She boasted that her lips were redder than the reddest rose to everyone at the public gardens on Wednesday. Each evening, as she prepared for bed, she spent an hour gazing at herself through her dim window. Each afternoon, as she drew water for her father's horses, she even took a moment to admire herself in the well, frequently forgetting to actually go get the water in the process.
The Parthenon, the largest temple devoted to the goddess Athena, was a destination that Medusa once visited with her friends. When Medusa saw all the exquisite sculptures and works of art created in Athena's likeness, she expressed her disappointment that it was a shame they hadn't been created in Medusa's silhouette since she was so much more attractive.
I'm so much prettier than these statues!
Everyone had left the temple except for Medusa by then, who was too preoccupied admiring her image in the substantial bronze doors to have noticed the others leaving so quickly.Suddenly, Medusa saw Athena's face reflected back at her instead of her own, as the image she was staring at began to sway.
