- The stages of a star are:1. Main Sequence 2. Red Giant 3. White Dwarf
- Main sequence stars fuse hydrogen atoms to form helium atoms in their cores.The sun is currently a main sequence star. A Red Giant forms after a star has run out of hydrogen fuel for nuclear fusion and cools down to become a white dwarf.
- Nuclear fusions in the Sun are when hydrogen atoms join together and transform into helium. This creates energy to power the Sun. It also produces other heavier elements like carbon and oxygen. The sun's energy gets to Earth by radiation and gives Earth heat and light. Fusion and gravity work together to balance the stars.
- Astronomers use spectroscopy to find spectrums of a star and can find out what elements the star has. The brightness of a star also shows where it’s distance from Earth and its movements. The closer a star is to us, the brighter it will appear.
- When high mass stars die, they become neutron stars after a supernova and Eeements are created. The higher the mass of a star, the more elements are created. Like heavier elements like gallium and bromine.
