- Yes, this is called evaporation. The heat from the sun is causing the particles to spread out even further and have no attraction! Gas particles rarely meet and have a very high kinetic energy.

- The snowman is a solid. The particles are tightly packed and are vibrating in place. No heat is being added to a solid and it cannot flow easily. It also has a definite shape and volume.

- Once heat is added to a solid a phase change occurs which is melting. Liquids have an indefinite shape and definite volume. The particles are more spread out but still have some attraction and can flow.
- When more heat is added to a liquid evaporation occurs. The particles are now very far apart and rarely meet. The particles have the highest kinetic energy so it moves in all directions. A gas has both an indefinite volume and shape.
