Storyboard Tekst

  • Ugh, why do I always sweat so much in the summer?
  • Here, I'll help you cool down!
  • Not funny! I asked you why I was sweating so much not to push me in the pool.
  • Haha.....sorry. It's because it’s your integumentary system's way of cooling your body down or maintaining homeostasis when your body temperature gets too high.
  • It's like I have built in air conditioning in my body.
  • Umm...I guess so, if that's how you want to say it you also have a "built in heater". When your body temperature gets cooler your muscular system produces heat by contracting to match the heat production to the heat loss. This process that the muscular system does to maintain homeostasis makes sure you don't get too cold and keep your proper body temperature.
  • Wow! That's interesting. Well then how do I stay warm when I'm sleeping because I'm not using my muscles then?
  • Whether you realize it or not you are always using your muscles even when you are sleeping your muscles are still contracting which is why the heat is still being produced and you are staying warm.
