- A middle class woman dreams of a lifestyle that we all desire. One day, her husband arrives at her house with tickets to attend a very elegant party and she is excited to attend, but upset that she will not look elegant and classy.

- The woman is not rich, but she dreams of being. Her husband gives her money to buy her dress, but she is not happy until she asks to borrow a necklace from a rich friend.

- What a pretty necklace
- At the ball, Loisel is a success, but loses the necklace. After days of searching for it, she and her husband decide to replace it with a fake one. The fake collar costs more money than they earn and it takes them ten years to pay for it.

- One day Mathilde walks to the market to buy some things and sees the friend from whom she borrowed the necklace. So she decides to tell him what happened.
