- On the first day of their stay, Circe drugs a band of Odysseus's men and turns them into pigs. (Hermes tells Odysseus how to get through Circe. But Odysseus ends up being lovers with the beautiful goddess.)

- They have a dangerous encounter with the Laestrygonians and leave with only one ship. Odysseus now sails to Aeaea, home of the goddess, Circe.

- You must sail to Hades, the realm of the dead, to speak with the spirit of Tiresias, a blind prophet who will tell you how to get home.
