Storyboard Tekst

  • Good day! today we're going to talk about fossil fuels.
  • In common dialogue, the term fossil fuel also includes hydrocarbon-containing natural resources that are not derived from animal or plant sources
  • Fossil fuels are hydrocarbons, primarily coal, fuel oil or natural gas, formed from the remains of dead plants and animals.
  • The coal we use today took millions of years to form. Heat and pressure turned the dead plants into coal
  • Coal is called a fossil fuel because it was made from plants that were once alive! Since coal comes from plants, and plants get their energy from the sun, the energy in coal also came from the sun.
  • Petroleum, also called crude oil, is a fossil fuel. Like coal and natural gas, petroleum was formed from the remains of ancient marine organisms, such as plants, algae, and bacteria.
  • Coal, natural gas, and petroleum are all fossil fuels that formed under similar conditions.
  • Natural gas is a fossil fuel, though the global warming emissions from its combustion are much lower than those from coal or oil.
  • Natural gas emits 50 to 60 percent less carbon dioxide (CO2) when combusted in a new, efficient natural gas power plant compared with emissions from a typical new coal plant.
  • That's all. Thankyou!
