My wife and I are going to go West. . . I'm going to get her away.

In the beginning of the chapter, the nurse brings in Pammy to meet everyone and Gatsby is stunned to find that Pammy is actually real. Tom sees that Gatsby and Daisy are admiring each other realizing that they do have feelings for each other.
Car Accident
While Tom, Jordan, and Nick head into the city they stop by Wilson's car garage so they can get gas in Gatsby's car. They all learn that Wilson (who is looking sickly) has the intentions of leaving town with Myrtle soon after finding out that she was having an affair, although he does not know with who.
Post-Car Accident
That God damned coward! He didn't even stop his car. (141)
In the suite of the Hotel Plaza, Tom is giving Gatsby a hard time talking about Oxford and his bootlegging business. Throughout all the fighting Gatsby expresses the fact that Daisy loves him and had never loved Tom. Tom refuses to believe that fact saying there are just some things he wouldn't understand.
Gatsby Waiting
While driving back from the hotel Daisy and Gatsby get into a car accident. Daisy is driving because she thinks it will help her settle down, meanwhile she hits Myrtle and Myrtle then dies in the street.
Because Gatsby and Daisy drive separately while Nick, Tom and Jordan are driving back from the hotel, they encounter an accident. They were told from Michaelis that Myrtle had died. Nick figures out it must have been Gatsby and Daisy and Tom assumes that Gatsby was driving the car.
Nick finds Gatsby hiding in the bushes after the accident. Gatsby is worried that Tom will hurt Daisy after the newfound information that was revealed during the night. He refuses to leave and stays in the bushes watching over Daisy for the night.
I'm just going to wait out here and see if he tries to bother her about that unpleasantness this afternoon. (144)
