- You do not know anything I am not the killer! You don't even know who you live with who your parents are. One day who will be blind just as me.
- You know what I think, I think YOU are the killer.
- Oedipus is king of Thebes after saving the city from the Sphinx. He became King of Thebes after the queen of Thebes thought it was impressive for Oedipus to have defeated the Sphinx.
- Climax
- Thebes is suffering and the people of Thebes are looking to Oedipus for help. Creon learns from the Oracle that the murder of King Laius is what has brought all the catastrophe to the city.
- Falling Action
- I always had a feeling "parents" were lying.
- Oedipus becomes angry and cannot understand why a Theban would not want to rid the city of its plague. Teiresias says he will not tell what he has seen because it would hurt both him and Oedipus. Oedipus calls him an evil man and in his anger accuses Teiresias himself. Oedipus's parents will be the cause of his suffering and he will be forced to leave Thebes. One day he will be blind, like Teiresias. Creon doesn't want to be king.
- Resolution
- Creon says he has power and doesn't want to be the king because it's too much work. He has it good.
- I don't want to be king being king is too much work. I'm basically king without all the hard work.
- The king and queen of Corinth are Oedipus's parents, so he thinks. They tell him that people who say he is not their son are lying. Oedipus always suspected they were not his parents. So he leaves when he is told by Apollo he will kill his father and marry his mother. We had a son, but when he was only three days old Laius pierced his ankles, left him on a hill to die.
- Oedipus did kill a man and his companions where three roads met while traveling to Thebes. He worries this was Lauis.If the witness says there was more than one attacker, then Oedipus is cleared. They wait for the witness that was with the king when he died.
