Nationalism played an important role as a cause of WW1. People took pride in their nation. They wanted to have the best army and the most powerful.

The Spark, also known as the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. He was killed by Gavrilo Princip who was a member of the Black Hand terrorist group on June 28, 1914.

There were two different sides to this war the first side named Allied powers consisted of Germany, Austria-Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire or in other words known as Turkey, the second side named Central Powers consisted of France, Great Britain, Russia, and the U.S. who later joined.
