- In a quest to find their home ithaca they came across an island with sheep and cheese. Odysseus takes 12 of his best men to adventure this island for food. They travel into a cave and stumble across a cyclops who eats 2 of their men.

- In a plan to escape without killing the cyclops so they wouldnt be trapped they stab him in the eye and escape seemlessly under the sheeps . "straight forward they sprinted, lifted it, and rammed it deep in his crater eye" (Homer 1119)
- Odysseus had been trapped on an island with one of the most beautiful goddesses calypso for 8 years now. Poseidon had made it impossible for him to leave. Hermes comes down and tells calypso that zeus is allowing him to leave this island to return home ithica. As he tries to leave Poseidon crashes his ship. He met a mermaid who told him to keep swimming and he made it to a new island.
