- But first we need to define the meaning of culture!
- As we discussed in class, culture is defined as a 'shared way of life' with its own traditions, values, beliefs, language, and customs. Each of these plays a role in shaping how we see the world and connect with others. Traditions bring us together through shared practices, values guide our decisions, beliefs shape our understanding of the world, language allows us to communicate, and customs preserve the essence of our heritage
- Putting it to my personal reflection in my family, I can say that we celebrate important milestones, embodied traditional dishes, speak our native language, and strongly value respect and community. But to better provide all these things I take a closer look at each of these and explore each one in more detail.

- Hi! Our family ancestors came from Pangasinan
- My family's ancestors’ roots are from Pangasinan, where our ancestors first settled. We honor this heritage as some of our family traditions were still intact to the place. In fact, some of our important family traditions includes cooking dishes that originated from this region especially during celebrations. Participating the place festivities every time that we are there, speaking the dialect and maintaining practices that have been passed down through generations. These traditions connect us to our past and help us keep our cultural identity alive as a family.

- With the traditions my family follows, I identify culturally through a deep connection to both Pangasinan and Filipino heritage. Growing up, I’ve embraced customs like celebrating local festivals that highlight our regional pride and history. Engaging with Filipino culture such as performing the gesture of ‘mano’ to show respect to elders and placing high value on family—shapes who I am and strengthens my connection to my heritage. These practices and values deeply influence how I understand and relate to my cultural background.
