YOU ARE HERE TO TRAIN! YOU MUST BE BRAVE AND STRONG TO FACE THE BRUTAL DISCIPLINE THAT WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU.

At the age of seven, children (mostly males) were sent to barracks. Brutal discipline taught the youth to fend for themselves.

The endurance and courage displayed by the youth is admirable.

The Spartans may have focused a lot on their strength and well-being, but Arts and Literature was a small part as well in their education.

WE'LL SPEND MORE TIME TRAINING THAN LEARNING, WE WILL FOCUS ON YOUR PHYSICAL STRENGTH AND BRAVERY.

Discussions were somehow discouraged, since they have a different focus for their people.

EVERYTHING MUST BE KEPT WITHIN OUR STATE ONLY, REPLY SHORTLY TO OTHERS, DON'T ACCEPT OUTER IDEAS. WE'RE ENOUGH AND STEADY ON OUR OWN

New ideas were declined / discouraged by the state. And some people were ought to answer with the fewest words as possible.

Girls / females were educated at home by their mothers or trainers, they were tough - minded, and took part in public. While boys / males focused on their somewhat strict training.
