Barbary's mother tells her to pick up fish from the market and to bring the baby twins with her. Barbary asks her mother why because the baby twins are hard to manage.

Barbary's mom reveals that she'll have another baby at around Christmas time. This angered Barbary because the two twins were already too much to handle. But, Barbary knew it was worse for her mother than for her, as childbirthing was dangerous in the middle ages due to the unavailability of hospitals.

Barbary goes to the market and picks up fish. On her way back she let anger take control of herself and she threw muck at Isobel, the lord's daughter for being more privileged than her.

Angered by what she did, Barbary goes to church and prays for forgiveness and for the next baby/babies to not be twins.
