- After explaining how Reese introduced Jude to photography and showed her different lenses the text states, "He'd been given his first camera by a man at his church-a local photographer-who'd let him borrow it once to take pictures at the picnic. The man had been so shocked by Reese's raw talent, he gave him an old camera to play around with. Reese spent all of high school with a camera in front of his face, shooting football games and school plays and marching band practice for the yearbook"(bennet 107). The quote introduces one of Reese's hobbies. It reveals a talent, something reese is good at and enjoys doing.
- Jude tells Reese about her first kiss in detail during a conversation they had. After summing up the relationship between her and Lonnie Reese says, "You cold Baby?"(Bennet 113). Reese continues to give Jude his jacket after this. This seen depicts Reese being compassionate because he loves Jude and the story may have rubbed him the wrong way.
