- We first get to know about Maya and her family. Maya's parents decided to come to the United States in order to find new jobs and have a better life, since they had lost their jobs back in Kasakhstan
- Climax
- Maya finds out about an dance event in school, and tries to get permission from her parents to assist to the event. She thinks that she is not going to be able to convince them, because they are still adapting to the costumes of the United States
- Falling Action
- Maya then finds out that her brother got into a fight with a bully, he started bothering him because of his english pronunciation. Maya thinks that it was not Nurzhan's fault so he helps him to get away with it by lying for him.
- Resolution
- Nurzhan discovers that Maya want to go to the dance and tries to convince her parents to let her go. The accept but only with the condition of Nurzhan being Maya's chaperone for the entire day.
- Maya is able to go to the event, and starts to dance with her crush, Daniel. Nurzhan leaves the party for a while, so that he can give some privacy to Maya. Maya's mom gift her a gold necklace, with that, she expresses that she is now understanding the customs of the US.
- Maya arrives to her home, thinking of the great night she passed. She thanked her brother, for helping her go to the dance.
