- The imagery is the beautiful scenery shown by the kingdom by the sea in the beginning and the chilling wind that kills Annabel Lee

- The refrain is the repetition of "In a kingdom by the sea" and "ANNABEL LEE"

- The symbol is the sea because one minute it is calmand the next it is so powerful. The poem says," That wind came out of the cloud by night, chilling and killing my Annabel Lee." (lines 25-26) The wind or sickness was so powerful it killed Annabel and Virginia. Annabel Lee is also a symbol of Virginia Poe.
- The setting is "In a kingdom by the sea "(line 2) It is where the speaker and Annabel Lee fell in love as children.
- The theme is everlasting love. In lines 30-33, it states, "And neither the angels in heaven above, Nor the demons down under the sea, can ever dissever my soul from the soul of the beautiful Annabel Lee. Poe is saying there is no one that can take away their love for each other.
