- It's hard to live without another soul to talk to, your honor. How is one to ease his heart a little?

- Yakov is in his cell again without having the chance to rest because he can not force himself to stop thinking about Bivikov. During the night, Yakov starts to lose consciousness and believes that Bivikov's ghost is in his cell visiting him.
- After getting an infection on his feet, Yakov screams for help several times a day, being ignored by the wardens. Once they saw that his feet were almost turning black because of the infection, they decided to allow Yakov to go to the infirmary. Then, the wardens moved him to a bigger and colder cell to keep him closer.
- Yakov started to get more depressed after all the physical and mental abuse that he had gone through. As time passed, he began to think that the trial he deserved would never be possible.
