- Welcome to Newton's Cove. We like to experiment with science, hence the name, Newton. Here we have a dog on a leash. The dog runs forward, but the leash is holding it back from moving anywhere else. This is an example of Newton's 1st law. "Every body remains in a state of rest or uniform motion unless acted upon by another net external force."
