- I'm sorry. I'm a terrible person. I didn't want my family to go to the play because if they came, they'd bring August and if they brought August, then everybody would know about him, and if I told you me and Miranda were friends, then we'd all be the biggest embarrassments in school and people would never let it go and they would talk about it behind our backs nonstop. I'm so, so, so sorry, I might never forgive myself
- Wait! You didn't tell him?!
- Miranda's probably right, why is the universe mean to August Pullman? What did he do to deserve his sentence. What did the parents do? Is life just some sort of lottery? You buy a ticket when you're born, and it's all just random whether it's a good ticket or not. No, if the universe was random, we would shatter instantly, and we wouldn't have anything, and the universe wouldn't protect any of its creations, like parents that adore you blindly, and a big sister who feels guilty for being human on you, and a little gravelly-voiced kid whose friends have left them over you, and even a pink-haired girl that has your picture in her wallet. Maybe the universe is a lottery, but it always takes care of its birds. Now that I think of it, maybe August doesn't have it all that bad. He has parents that love him, a sister that protects him, a pink-haired girl that has his picture in her wallet, and friends that care about him. He may be deformed, but at least there are people that are on his side.
- Rising Action:Justin meets Auggie for the first time. He was shocked because his face anomalies were worse than he expected
- Climax:Justin became upset when he found out Miranda and Olivia were really good friends. Then Olivia starts crying and confesses that she does not want August at the play
- Resolution:Justin realizes that the universe is not random. He feels that Auggie is lucky to have caring parents, a caring sister, a good friend in Jack, and Miranda that has a picture of him.
