Our earth is the third planet from the sun! Its rotation causes the sun to appear across the sky.
We have 24 hours in a day so 12 hours of day and 12 hours of night! (We really have 23 hours and 56 minutes in a day, but the numbers in a day are rounded.)
Our rotation around the sun causes our night and day. However, a rotation like the image shown above is called orbit. This gives us our years which takes 365 days or on leap years (extra day in February) We have 366 days in a year. A leap year is every four years.
Bye!
We also have the moon orbiting around us to. The moon makes waves on earth with its small gravitational pull on the earth. The moon would also make our days shorter if it got closer right now. It would also 10-fold our gravity!
Earth is tilted about twenty-four degrees on its axis which is about how long a day is. (Crazy right?) This also creates winter summer spring and fall.
Now you know of how the Earth rotates and what produces Day and Night.
