- Monkeys! They're walking on the rooftops!
- My book "The Secret Zoo" begins with a girl named Megan. She lost her glasses. She went to her tree fort to find them. When she found them, she heard a loud noise. She looked at the zoo but there was no activity. Soon, she saw monkeys walking on rooftops! She ran inside to get her brother Noah. He said he saw nothing but Megan insisted she saw them.
- I don't see them. Are you sure?
- 3 weeks after Megan saw the monkeys, she went missing. One night, a bird flew into Noah's room. It left a flyer with holes punched in some letters. Without the letters that were punched out, it read "Come see Mr. Tall Tail". Noah knew that Mr. Tall Tail was a monkey at the zoo, so he was suspicious that the zoo and his sister's disappearance were connected. He went to the zoo to meet the monkey. At first, when he went to the exhibit, he did not respond at all. Noah tried talking to it but it had no response at all. Just when he was about to leave though, he handed Noah a note. Noah was extremely shocked.
- Huh?
- It turns out the note was a diary page from Megan. She said that the big stone wall at the Forest of Flight exhibit had holes. She also stated that some birds that were supposedly there were not. Different birds were there on different days. Even some old lady seemed to be stalking her. When Noah entered the exhibit, it was like a miniature jungle. He saw the hole but nothing happened. He assumed it was used for nests. A little while after the zoo announced they were closing, he saw what must have been thousands of birds flying out of the holes. He even saw the bird that flew into his room before. The bird's name was also Marlo. A bird also slipped a note into his pocket.
