How did this happen? Why is my cholesterol too high?
There are several things that cause cholesterol levels to rise. Here's a list of a few reasons your cholesterol might be too high
- Eating too many foods that contain saturated or trans fats. - Smoking - Not getting enough exercise - Drinking too much alcohol - Family history of high cholesterol - Being under a lot stress for an extended period of time -Not getting enough sleep, or getting poor quality sleep

I don't want to have a heart attack...or a stroke...How do I lower my cholesterol?
I have a few suggestions for you: 1. If you smoke, you should quit. 2. Never drink more than 2 alcoholic beverages per day, and don't drink alcohol every day. 3. Reduce your consumption of fried foods, red meat, fast food, and processed foods, like potato chips. 4. Exercise for 30 minutes at least 4 times each week. Try to start by setting a goal to take a walk during your lunch break, or after dinner. 5. Increase the amount of fiber in your diet. Lifestyle changes are difficult, and can be hard to maintain...but it's important that you don't give up!We'll check your cholesterol again in a few months and see how you're doing.
