- The three young men meet an old man, and he advises them to take the crooked path. He tells them that they will find Death under a tree.
- They went to the tree and found eight bushles of gold under the tree.
- The youngest goes to town to get food and drink. While he's there, he poisons the wine for his friends.
- When he returns with the poisoned wine, the other two young men killed him, and drank the wine, and also died.
