- This is a comparison of the NKVD to Stalin who has made them just as bad as him. This storyboard goes through the ways the NKVD treated the Lithuanians throughout Between Shades of Grey.
- "Your brother can not get his ration, he did not work."
- "He can't work he is sick."
- The NKVD were always rushing the Lithuanians in everything they did. This shows the scene where the women had to dig the hole with messed up gardening tools and were eventually put in the holeand taunted.
- "No.Facist Pigs get nothing of the sort."
- "My mom is dying she needs medical help."
- The NKVD would wake the Lithuanians up every other day to sign a document that would put them in slavery for 25 years. Since most would not sign the document they tortured them in this way.
- "If you don't let me help these people you are going to get reported."
- "Fine go ahead."
- The Lithuanians were given rations of bread for their work each day. The amount was not enough to live off of and sometimes it would be taken for no reason. This scene shows when Jonas got sick and since he could not work they would not give him his ration.
- Another thing the NKVD took away from the Lithuanians was medical help. This resulted in a lot of people dying and they could care less as they laughed about it.
- In the end the NKVD's actions were discovered and people came to help. There is always one in the bunch that wants to make a change and thanks to Kretsky the NKVD were stopped.
