- What King is saying is that Lincoln freed the southern slaves 5 score years ago and still today they stand there living in segregation.
- Ethos
- "Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children."

- In this quotes King is using a quote from the bible, showing that all black and white people should not be separate but be together.
- Pathos
- King is saying that they are like "insufficient funds" they government says they don't have the money to help them.
- Logos
- "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."
- King is saying that he wants all segregation to end and it needs to happen now
- King uses the american dream to appeal others showing that they also should have the same freedom
- King wants a good life for the future of brown people.
