- In a foreign city, I would not mind so much. One can go to the Consul and get some help. Here in one's own country, one is at a big disadvantage. Unless, I can find some decent chap to believe my story and lend me some money, I might have to spend the night on this bench. I am really happy that you do not think my story is terribly improbable.
- Of Course!
- Now the weak point of your story is that you cannot produce soap.

- With that thought Gortsby rose to go, and as he did so his eyes fell on a small cylinder packet, wrapped and sealed, and it has obviously fallen out of the young man's overcoat pocket when he flung himself down on the seat
- Gortsby was rushing along anxiously looking for a youthful figure in a black overcoat . He had nearly given up the search when he caught sight of the man..
- It must have slipped out of your overcoat pocket when sat down on the seat. I saw it on the ground after you left.
- The important witness in your case has turned up.
