  • Can you please do something about the ravaging elephant?
  • What could I do? I will just bring my gun just in case.

  • Calm Elephant

  • KILL IT, KILL IT!
  • He looked at the crowd that followed him and it was full of people happy and excited over this bit of fun since they were certain the elephant would be shot. They did not like him, but with the rifle in his hands, he became worth watching.

  • Making a Decision
  • A white man mustn't be frightened in front of natives ; and so, in general, he isn't frightened. I have to shoot it.
  • Instead of walking up to the elephant to see if it was truly peaceful, the man decided to shoot as he did not want to embarrass himself in front of his coworkers and the Burmese people if it did attack.
  • Dia: 10
  • Divided Opinions
  • I wonder whether any of the others understand that I had done it just to avoid looking a fool.
  • Yay it's dead!
  • I want it's tusks!
  • The man had to make sure that the elephant was actually dead so he shot it many times. Afterward, there were a lot of discussions about the shooting of the elephant. The owner was furious, but legally the man had done the right thing since a mad elephant had to be killed although opinions were divided, even his thoughts were divided.
