  • On page 672 They believe that Tommys theory on aliens among them is correct and try to find who it is “. . Except the people they'd sent down ahead of them. They looked just like humans. And it wasn't until the ship landed that-On 674 They assume anyone with a device that suddenly turns on or anything that has electricity in it is the imposterOn page 75 since Les Goodmans car turned on all of a sudden and there is no electricity anywhere else in Maple Street they think he's the alien, and to back this up they say sometimes randomly in the early morning he looks up at the sky “ WOMAN. [A little reluctantly] Well... sometimes I go to bed late at night. A couple of times . . . a couple of times I'd come out on the porch and I'd see Mr. Goodman here in the wee hours of the morning standing out in front of his house.”On page 679-680 Charlie and the other neighbors assume that the unknown person walking toward them (Pete Van Horn) was the alien and shot him dead “Woman: You killed him, you shot him dead!”. On page 680 after they realize the unknown figure was Pete they now come to the conclusion that since Charlie was so quick to kill, he must have been hiding something therefore he might be the imposter. “Goodman: you were so quick to kill and tell us who to be careful of, maybe he was trying to tell us something we didn't know.On page 683 They start thinking Tommy was the alien all along because he was the one who knew in the first place” CHARLIE: It's... it's the kid. It's Tommy. He's the one!” “ WOMAN: But he knew! He was the only one who knew! He told us all about it. Well, how did he know? How could he have known? “On page 681 they start blaming each other and assuming that everyone is the alien “How could he know? “Who told him? “Make the kid answer. DON: It was Charlie who killed old man Van Horn.
