- At the end of the rally in Montgomery, Viola Liuzzo had driven marchers back to Selma. When she was returning back to Montgomery a car of KKK members shot her through her car window.

- James Reeb volunteered all the way from Bostom as clergy for MLK, he was clubbed to death as he left a restaurant
- Jimmie Lee Jackson had been shot by police, because he tried to protect his mother from brutal beatings
