- What action do they take
- Troy didn’t want Cory to be like him and play sports so he crushed his dreams. “The white man ain’t gonna let you get nowhere with that football noway”(Wilson 37). Troy wanted Cory to feel like no matter what he did that the white man wouldn’t let him get anywhere because of his skin tone.
- Troy cheats on Rose to get satisfaction and to get away from his problems. “It’s just… she gives me a different idea… a different understanding about myself. I can step out of this house and get away from the pressures and problems!”(Wilson 66). Troy feels like cheating on Rose with Alberta gives him a peace of mind and takes aways his problems at home.
- What do they talk about?
- "I been standing with you! I been right here with you, Troy. I got a life too. I gave 18 years of my life to stand in the same spot with you. don't you think I ever wanted other things? don't you think I had dreams and hopes? What about my life? What about me? don't you think it ever crossed my mind to want to know other men?
- Troy finds happiness and a good sense of mind while cheating. “I can sit up in her house and laugh. do you understand what I'm saying? I can laugh out loud… and it feels good. Rose, I can't give that up”(Wilson 66). Troy finds himself surrounded with happiness while being with Alberta and cheating on Rose. However Troy is trying to make Rose feel wheres he’s coming from instead of just dissing her feelings about it.

- “Troy I held you tighter. you was my husband. I owed you everything I had. every part of me I could find to give you. and upstairs in that room… with the darkness falling on me… I gave everything I had to try to erase the doubt that you wasn't the finest man in the world, and wherever You was going… I wanted to be there with you. all right”
