Storyboard Tekst
The TCP/IP Stack uses 4 different layers
This storyboard is going to be a detailed look at the TCP/IP Stack
The 4 layers are: Application, Transport, Network, and Link
if it is a web browser then the protocol would be HTTP, HTTPS, FTP etc
The application layer uses an appropriate protocol relating to whatever application is being used to transmit the data
The first layer is the application
After the connection has been made, it splits the data to be transmitted into packets
Transport is responsible for establishing an "end-to-end" connection
The second layer is Transport
This layer adds the source IP address and the destination IP address to each packet
Socket = IP address + Port
All routers operate at this layer. They use the IP address to know the destination the packets are heading to.
The third layer is Network
The MAC address is changed at each hop on the router
It is responsible for adding The MAC address of both the Source device and the destination device.
The fourth and final layer is Link
This layer represents the physical connection between various network nodes
Well this is the end of our journey through each layer of the TCP/IP Stack
We hope to see you again someday on some other topic
